Quantitative Commodity Researcher & Strategist | New York | 5+ years’ experience

A leading buy-side firm is looking to hire a Quantitative Commodity Researcher & Strategist to join its team in either London or New York. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing short-, medium-, and long-term commodity trading strategies through a blend of fundamental and quantitative analysis. The role also involves close collaboration with portfolio managers to refine trade ideas and generate actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop short-, medium-, and long-term commodity strategies using both fundamental and quantitative approaches

  • Work closely with portfolio managers to improve trade execution and deliver meaningful market insights

  • Produce high-quality research content on commodity fundamentals, including quarterly letters, blog posts, and academic-style publications

  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable intelligence and provide thought leadership across the investment team

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing timely market updates and insights

  • Monitor global financial markets, macroeconomic indicators, and geopolitical developments to identify opportunities and assess risks

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a cross-commodity research role

  • Strong academic credentials, ideally in a quantitative or economics-related discipline

  • Proficiency in a high-level programming language, preferably Python or R
