L/S Equity Analyst - £1.5bn Single Manager Hedge Fund (EU & Nordic Classifieds, Consumer Tech & Software) – London

We have been recently instructed by a rapidly growing investment management firm specialising in active ETFs. The group have recently raised significant capital and launched multiple innovative ETF We have recently been mandated by a boutique hedge fund, who are looking to expand their investment team with the addition of an equity analyst. The group oversee £1.5bn in AUM, deployed across a highly concentrated portfolio of technology names, with a particular focus on Western European markets, and the Nordics.

The group promote a culture of intellectual curiosity, grounded in a rigorous, fundamentally-driven research approach. Utilising longer-term holding periods, the group adopt a private equity style approach to public markets and encourage a culture of debate and discussion around investment ideas - targeting companies that are under-analysed or misunderstood by the market, where a significant gap exists between current share price and intrinsic value.

The position represents an excellent opportunity for an equity analyst with shorting experience to move to an agile, and highly meritocratic fund that values intellectual debates and rigorous research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth fundamental research and financial analysis across a universe of European Technology names.

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models, including forecasting earnings, cash flows, and valuations.

  • Analyse industry trends, competitive landscapes, and disruptive technologies to identify key investment opportunities.

  • Engage with company management teams, industry experts, and sell-side analysts to gather relevant insights.

  • Develop well-supported investment theses and present recommendations to the investment team.

  • Monitor portfolio holdings, earnings releases, and market developments to assess investment impact.

  • Collaborate with other team members to refine investment strategies and contribute to portfolio construction.

Role Requirements:

  • 2-5 years experience in L/S Equities. Candidates must have shorting experience.

  • You must have existing stock coverage within the following industry sub-verticals:

    • European Online Classifieds

    • Western European and Nordic software businesses

      • B2B Software, Platform Software, Accounting Software, SaaS Models.

    • Online Media / Leisure / Gambling

  • Strong understanding of financial modelling, valuation methodologies, and investment analysis.

  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with a demonstrated ability to generate investment insights.
