Economist Role - Hedge Fund - Hong Kong

We’re working with a well-respected global hedge fund, known for its expertise in Macro Markets. They’re seeking an experienced economist to join their Hong Kong team. This role involves focusing on country analysis for developed Asian economies, with a particular emphasis on Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. You’ll report directly to the global chief economist and work closely with portfolio managers in the Hong Kong office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough analysis of developed Asian economies, focusing on Japan, Taiwan, and Korea

• Collaborate with portfolio managers to develop investment strategies based on economic analysis

• Monitor global fixed income and interest rate markets, with a focus on Asia

• Produce high-quality written reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders

• Stay informed on macroeconomic trends, policy changes, and market dynamics in Asia

Requirements:

• PhD in Economics from a reputable institution

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a macro economist covering Asia

• Previous experience in a top investment bank or buy-side firm

• Strong understanding of global fixed income and interest rate markets in Asia

• Excellent written communication skills

• Central banking experience (prior to buy-side/sell-side research) is advantageous
