European Renewable Quantitative Analyst - London
We are partnering with a leading commodity trading and investment firm to hire a European Renewable Quant Analyst for their London-based team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in weather and power analytics, with extensive experience analysing large datasets related to power generation and weather.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage reporting processes for numerical weather, power, and renewable models across Europe.
Conduct statistical analysis to produce expected probability distributions of weather, power, and renewable energy outcomes.
Lead research efforts on seasonal and ocean forecasting, as well as climate prediction. Oversee the firm’s weather and climate data processes and enhance its weather analytics toolkit.
Play a key role in:
Designing, developing, and refining fundamental supply-demand and power pricing models to support trading strategies.
Enhancing and maintaining the power desk’s proprietary analytical tools.
Integrating new models into the power desk’s existing modelling infrastructure.
Present research findings and incorporate promising outcomes into the team’s analytics and processes.
Requirements
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Atmospheric Sciences with a computing focus, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
3–5 years of relevant experience, ideally within power or weather analytics in a trading or research environment.
Strong analytical mindset with excellent communication skills.
Proficiency in programming and statistical analysis using Python, R, and/or MATLAB.
